Important Concepts, Ideas and Insights gained:
I have gained a lot of new information that is useful in this class so far. Working as a class is much easier than working by yourself. The discussions we have will improve my speech giving skills greatly. The tips you give in class are also useful. The lists we created about things not to do during a speech helps a lot.
Usefulness and/or Relevance of Ideas or Concepts and Insights Gained
The ideas I have learned from class will help me in everyday life. They make me sound more intelligent and will help me when I get a job after college because I’m a(be able to identify different types of speeches).

Learning in this course is very easy. The way that you teach is easy to follow and keeps me interested at 10 AM when I would normally sleep in class.

I have learned good information in the last four weeks. I learned about different types of speeches and how to deliver them effectively. I also learned 7 qualities that will help me in public speaking during and beyond this class. My leadership skills are developing too. When I speak during class I feel more like a leader because I am giving my input to my classmates. Class lectures and discussions really help my public speaking skills develop.

This course has given me better understanding and use of the seven learning objectives. Before the class, I didn’t have the right understanding of the importance of public speaking. The class activities that we do in class and the basis of your lectures are focused on the importance of effective public speaking. You identified the public speaking principles and we used them in our speeches. I got rid of the anxiety I had prior to speaking publicly. I gathered information and presented facts much better in my second speech than my first, which helped a lot. I am readily able to identify the genre a speech belongs to by reading it. I also gained a lot of knowledge of how to create speeches and present them effectively in this course. Class activities allowed me to use leadership and teamwork skills.
I have studied the speech principles on my own and that allowed me to better understand it in class when you go over it. Your teaching style in general helped me learn in this course. Your lectures are not boring and the atmosphere of the class is what makes me want to go to it. My knowledge on preparing speeches has benefited from taking this class. My experience with this class is a positive one. You learn a lot and it is relevant material.
